The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update. Social Media Response Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms. The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Updates Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Stories One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Manual Updates Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
